It was Patsy's wish when she was at St Wilfrid's to fundraise for them, whether that was by herself if she had had the chance, or with others. She was so grateful for the care given to her by the St Wilfrid's team and was truly overcome by their commitment and compassion both day and night.
We both saw our time at St Wilfrid's as a life saver, both metaphorically and physically. Whilst we could not cure Patsy, St Wilfrid's gave us both a very precious 7 weeks of time together which we cherished every day. In their calm and peaceful setting, we forgot about the disease, the 24/7 medication and the associated disabilities, and instead we read to each other, chatted, listened to music and watched Gardener's World together. Time that I will treasure deeply.
This care is second to none and with only 20 in-patient beds, we both recognised what fortune had bestowed upon us and we were sincerely grateful. At £650 per day per in-patient, the commitment from the charity to Patsy is evident.
Over the next 12 months, our family is hosting a number of fundraising activities to raise funds for St Wilfrid's so that other families can benefit from their outstanding care. Care that should be considered as a human right, but sadly due to funding, is not ubiquitous.
We have set a target of £10,000 which we hope with help from our friends and family, we will reach.
Thank you all for your love and support.
